Modern Living Style with Soirée Floral and Modani Furniture

This week we’re thrilled to share that we’ve been selected by Modani Furniture to style a modern living room using our favorite pieces from their collection. Our design is centered around the Onyxia Sofa in black from their modern sofa collection and is the perfect base for a sleek New York City apartment. In true modern style, we kept our design clean with neutral colors in black and grey with a hint of metallics. One of our favorite items from their collection is the Lina Safari Rug – this piece adds texture and character to our design and could easily be mixed with items you may already have at home. Swapping out a few items with ones from your current home décor could freshen up your living room and start your year off with an updated look!

    2015 Wedding Inspiration with Pantone’s Color of the Year: Marsala

    Pantone recently released their 2015 Color of the Year and as you may have heard, it’s Marsala.
    Once the color was announced we took a look back at some of our 2014 weddings and realized that shades of Marsala started creeping up into our designs! Here’s a look at some of our Marsala-infused designs and some more inspiration for you as you plan your 2015 wedding!

    Along with announcing the Color of the Year, Pantone also releases their seasonal picks for the upcoming year.     A Look Back at 2014 with Soirée Floral

    I can’t believe 2014 has come and gone.  It’s been a whirlwind for Soiree Floral.  One of our longest seasons ever, filled with lots of clients and new friends.  I always love having a look back on the year.  It is even a surprise to us when we look back and see all that the year had in store for us.  Glitter, spray paint, glue and power tools always make for a fabulous Soiree season.  Here’s a look back at some of our behind the scene’s throughout the season.  A huge thank you to all the people who help us out, from our FEDEX and UPS friends (who are an invaluable part of our team) to our flower sisters (you know who you are and we couldn’t do it without you!!!), to the friends and family who support us when we are so exhausted we don’t think we can go another day.  To Somersaults for keeping us fed (seriously, if you haven’t tried them, they are a must!  Every year we end up with a go to food.  Last year was cuke’s and hummus, but sea salt Somersaults won out this year for sure!).  To all the worker bees who help out behind the scenes cleaning flowers, prepping vases, washing buckets – I sincerely appreciate every single one of you!  Cheers to 2014. 
    I can’t wait to see what 2015 has in store for us!

    Holiday Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 4

    We’re two days away from jolly man’s arrival and while we’re finishing up some last-minute shopping (you can view our shopping guides here) and finalizing the details of our very own holiday tables.
    If you’re in the same boat, here’s our final look in our four part series for holiday tablescapes!
    Adding blooms to the “icy” look of table three and as you can see it softens up the look and bring a touch of romance to the tablescape with whites and greens with a touch of pink.

    For this Make It Your Own style board we added in fun accessories to inspire some cleverness in your table design. The silver deer would be so whimsical tucked in-between votives and arrangements and the silver garlands would be great to weave through the tablescape as well.

    Holiday Sweater Party with ModCloth & Soirée Floral

    The fabulous ladies at ModCloth contacted us to participate in their Holiday Sweater Party featuring their “The More You Snowflake Sweater”. Immediately, we thought – this needs two looks! One to dress up and one to dress down! Our inspiration for the Dress It Up look was for a holiday party – how interesting to mix such a cozy sweater with a traditional fair isle style print with vegan leather leggings and booties! Floppy hats are all the rage and oh-so-perfect for snowy nights and we couldn’t resist! Our Dress It Down look was inspired by cocoa by the fire aprés ski – cozy, comfortable and perfect for anything the day could bring! We paired it with skinny jeans, a slouchy beanie and some comfy booties.

    Holiday Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 3

    Today’s installment of our holiday tablescapes is an “icy” one!
    We couldn’t resist pairing Placesetters‘ frosted rippled glass plate with their silver linen!
    Keeping the tabletop elements mostly monochromatic gave us a more modern and sleek tablescape, allowing the red and green centerpieces to pop! To add to the modern feel, we kept the glassware stemless and used the ice-like square charger to finish the design.

    We opened up our boxes of WellWed this week and can’t believe our eyes!
    We feel so lucky to have three of our Nantucket Weddings featured in the current issue.
    Here’s a look back at Ashley & Zach’s Wauwinet Inn Wedding from 2013 shot by the talented, Katie Kaizer.
    The Wauwinet Inn is one of our favorite venues for brides and grooms looking for a special place that is a bit more secluded and private than other Nantucket venues, not to mention the views!
    Ashley carried one of our favorite bouquets of 2013 – look at that beauty, so wild and organic!

    Last week we kicked off our month long series of tablescapes and today we’re debuting Look Two!
    We’ve added blooms into the mix this time and in keeping the look polished, we used julep cups as our vessels. To soften up the red of our design we incorporated lots of green and white with a pop of pink! (We couldn’t resist!)

    In this style board our “Mix & Match” incorporates a more rustic style if a more formal look isn’t what you’re looking for. The tartan linen and the numbered napkins will look great with the julep cups and mercury votives, too!

    Throw Back Thursday – Nantucket Stroll Party with Soirée Floral, Placesetters and Zofia & Co.

    Nantucket Stroll is this weekend and as we gear up for a weekend of weddings and parties we’re excited to share a look back on our Stroll Party from last year! We decked the halls with red, green and gold (and lots of glitter!) and invited all of our “friendors” to stop by and visit!
    We snacked on Elf Snacks (these were such a hit!), cookies and a cranberry prosecco punch.
    Zofia & Co. set up a photo booth and we clicked away the night!

    Holiday Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 1

    We’re really excited to get started on the holidays and with this tablescape inspiration
    you will be, too! This table is rich in color and sleek in style. We love incorporating fruits and vegetables into our designs from time to time and these red delicious apples were the perfect jumping off point for this tablescape. This design could easily be adapted to accommodate a longer table or perhaps serve as the backdrop to a buffet station/table.
    The mercury glass risers and votive holders add a touch of glimmer to the table, while the green garland atop the apples brings in just a touch of earthiness. We had fun diving into the inventory of Placesetters, Inc. once again and couldn’t resist the swirly silver charger mixed with the clear beaded plate; we kept all of it very clean and simple without being plain.

    Thanksgiving Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 4

    The countdown is “on” in our house – is it in yours? Seven more days until the big feast and we can’t
    decide which of our four Thanksgiving tablescapes we like more! This final look incorporates a new linen,
    all of our colors and the brown, earth-toned votives from Look One mixed in with all of the brassy golds, purples and oranges. This look has a more relaxed feel to it – the linen really tones down the “fancy” factor that
    Looks Two and Three had with that luxe linen.

    Fall-Inspired Recipe by Soirée Floral – A Salted Caramel Pear Crisp

    Salted Caramel is a fan-favorite in the Soirée studio – but Salted Caramel Pear Crisp?
    Sounds like heaven to us! We pinned this recipe by My Blessed Life and decided to
    make it our own (we’re all about that these days!)  Just a forewarning – you’re going to be
    making up excuses to make this salted caramel sauce! It’s SO good!
    Here’s our version:

    Prepare a 13″x9″ baking dish – grease it with your choice of “grease”, we used butter. Slice up 10 or 11 pears and arrange them in your greased dish. Toss pears with the juice of 2 lemons then sprinkle about 2 tablespoons of flour and toss them again. In a bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of old fashioned oat, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. Cut butter into bits and mix together (we used our hands)
    until crumbly. Add 1/2 sliced almonds and sprinkle on top of pears. Bake in oven at 350ºF for about 50-60 minutes.

    When your crisp has about 5 minutes left in the oven, prepare the caramel sauce.
    Heat 4 tablespoons of butter, 3 tablespoons of raw sugar, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar,
    1/8 teaspoon of sea salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk. Stir constantly
    and bring to a boil. Stir boiling sauce for 1 minute. Add 2 tablespoons of sifted confectioner’s
    sugar to sauce to thicken. Drizzle over crisp and enjoy over vanilla bean ice cream!

    Thanksgiving Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 3

    We’re getting closer and closer to “the big day” (aka: Thanksgiving!) and we thought, let’s mix it up!
    So we took Look One and Look Two and mixed them together! Here we’re using the linen from Look Two, so it’s still a more formal look, but the added warmth of the orange blends surprisingly well with the deep plums and hints of magenta and lavender. We loved incorporating a little bit of playfulness into this design by adding a bird and a bit of bittersweet to our place setting.
    In this week’s “Make It Your Own” we included several of the same items from Look One and Look Two but added in a few new Mix and Match items that would work, too!  Tabletop rentals, place settings, and linens by Placesetters.

    Thanksgiving Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 2

    Last week we shared Look One – a table design with goldenrod and pops of green.
    Today we’re revealing Look Two of our four part series on Thanksgiving table designs!
    This look features the same base elements – plates, taper holders and vases paired with different flowers, candles and linens. We wanted to challenge our design brains by keeping some of the same elements throughout each tablescape and just swapping out a few things; in this case color was the main swap! This design in centered around shades of plum and eggplant, brassy-golds, vibrant golds and pops of green. Look One featured two options for a little something at each guest’s placesetting and for this look we snuck in a few sprigs of dried lavender – fragrant and thoughtful. This look evokes a different mood than Look One, it’s more “moody” in the way of the table linens and the calla lilies added a formal touch to the whole design.

    Fall-inspired Recipe by Soirée Floral – A Prosciutto, Pear, Fig and Goat Cheese Flatbread

    You’re in for a treat this week – this flatbread is decadent!
    It’s a perfect recipe for a dinner for two or make a few more and serve it as an appetizer!
    We adapted this recipe from Pinterest to suit our tastes…
    Start off by preparing the ingredients – sliced pears, some organic arugula,
    your favorite goat cheese, sliced prosciutto (torn into pieces),
    and of course the “sauce” – Dalmatia Fig Spread!
    Sauteé your sliced pears in 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar for about 3 – 5 minutes and set aside.
    Spread approximately 2 tablespoons of fig spread onto your flatbread (we used Naan) and arrange your ingredients. Side note: if you’re serving this as an appetizer, disperse your ingredients evenly so it’s easy to cut and won’t fall apart when guests take a bite.
    Once you’ve arrange the ingredients, pop it in the oven for about 8-10 minutes… and voila!

    Thanksgiving Tablescapes with Soirée Floral – Part 1

    The holidays are upon us! (Can you believe it?!?)
    We’ve had so much fun the past few weeks prepping for Thanksgiving – we can’t wait to share it all!
    In the coming weeks leading up to the big feast we’ll be sharing four (yep, you read it right!)
    different looks for designing your tablescape. First up, Look One!
    This table design is anchored by shades of goldenrod and brassy golds.
    We balanced the mix of metallics with a hint of green, earthy brown-tones and matte accents.
    Have fun with your table – hosting Thanksgiving doesn’t have to mean “stuffy” or traditional.
    We love mixing and matching different styles of dinnerware and layering the heights of the candlelight; this adds intimacy to the tablescape and makes it feel warm and inviting. 
     Napkin rings not your thing? Have a sweet little something like a succulent placed on your guests’ napkins for a more organic and casual feel.

    Sneak Peek – Nantucket Whaling Museum Wedding with Soirée Floral and Zofia & Co.

    We love sharing these sneak peeks – it’s so great to get a snippet of our clients enjoying their wedding day and it gives us butterflies to see our designs in action! Today we’re sharing Kristin and Scott’s wedding at St. Mary’s Church and the Whaling Museum, shot by Brian & Stacey of Zofia & Co.
    They had the perfect fall day to accompany their beautiful fall color palette!
    The bride carried a classic, all-white bouquet and the girls carried bouquets
    that popped off of their fuchsia dresses perfectly.
    Weddings at the Whaling Museum are unique in the best of ways – the building is full of Nantucket history and character, it’s an intimate venue to enjoy the company of your guests and the view from the rooftop is breathtaking!
    (It’s also the perfect place for cocktail hour.)

    Throw Back Thursday – From Inspiration to Reality with Style Me Pretty, Soirée Floral and Brea McDonald Photography

    We love the coziness of Fall weddings, the candlelit we love year-round has a little bit of a different feel this time of year. While shooting a fun little series for the upcoming holidays recently, we were reminded of this
    fall-inspired shoot that we did in collaboration with Maine Seasons Events, Brea McDonald Photography, Meg Simone for Style Me Pretty back in 2009.
    This is one of our all-time favorite tables – we love the unexpected pairing of turquoise and orange for a fall wedding tablescape and how layered the design is. Just take a look at the table piece by piece – a linen, a topper and a runner! And the plates! We love the layered plates with different textures and designs. Sara from Griffin-vites Stationery nailed it with her watercolor details – it was the perfect touch of whimsy!
    Working with these talented ladies is always a joy – “friendors” as we like to say.

    This post has us dreaming of those Indian Summer days of September!
    We ended the month of September weddings with this spectacular bride and groom at one
    of our favorite venues – Galley Beach. The skies were crystal blue and believe it or not,
    it wasn’t very windy down on the water!
    Here’s a sneak peek into their beautiful wedding day – full of gorgeous details like her dress! (gasp!) and the cute shirts her maids wore! Love them! And of course, those very handsome
    gentlemen in their grey-blue suits and seersucker ties!

    Recently we had the privilege of doing a walk through with a bride at the secluded, Westmoor Farm.
    We love this property, no matter what time of year, but immediately thought of Zofia and Mark’s vibrant spring wedding (the duo behind Zofia & Co. Photography) back in 2011.

    In The Garden of Good and Evil Halloween Party at The Westmoor Club

    Halloween is right around the corner as our Indian Summer comes to an end.
    To celebrate, we’ve teamed up with The Westmoor Club in sponsoring
    a Halloween party to benefit the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club! 
    We’re finalizing the decor and can’t wait to set up later this week!
    The only thing we can’t seem to decide on is what to wear!?!
    What will you be wearing – a good or an evil costume?
    This is a great benefit that supports Nantucket youth and gives you a great reason

    Falling Up! – Julep’s Autumn Style Shift with Anthropologie & Soirée Floral – Part Two

    On Tuesday, we shared Part One of our collaboration with Anthropologie and
    beauty expert company, Julep and it was all-inspired by their dusty-blue polish, “Misti”.
    Today, we’re sharing a boho-glam look using Anthropologie’s must-have
    Equinox Maxi Dress and Julep’s better-than-burnt-orange “Brielle”.
    “Brielle” is perfect for this look – it complements the subtle hints of orange and pinks in the dress and adds to the glam-ness of the whole look. Want to add even more glam? Paint a frenchie with “Andrea” on the tips.
