A Heart Full of Thanks This Thanksgiving!

November 24, 2015

Soiree just wrapped up it’s 2015 season, and what a season it’s been.  I feel like just yesterday we were doing winter weddings in March and April followed by Mother’s Day weddings in May and then we were off to the races come June. I can’t believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday.

I have so many things to be Thankful for this season and instead of waxing poetic about it all, I think I’ll just let these images speak for themselves.  A lot of these images show our hard work, and this job isn’t for sissies – so I left the not so glamorous shots in there.  I’m blessed to be graced with a team that shows up week after week ready to do battle.  I gave this season a hashtag, a very appropriate hashtag – #badass!

A very special Thank You from the bottom of my heart, to my dear friends The Chapel Designers!! I couldn’t have taken on the tasks I did without you. Also, a huge thank you to Nantucket Party Rentals for providing our village with a little shelter earlier this summer, our neighbors, Verde Nantucket Green Build for being our strong men behind the scenes and Stacey Perry for feeding our crew and keeping us fueled with those magic energy oat and chia balls! (We’re still talking about them!)

This world can be a crazy place, and in case I don’t say it enough, just know I am so very thankful for each and every one of you listed above and so many more that I get the pleasure of working with on a daily basis. XOXOXO

(when I say it felt like 110 degrees in this tent, I’m not joking!  These gals were troopers!)

(literally 30+ mph winds this day, and our bride wanted to be married on the beach, so a beach wedding we gave her – and it wasn’t easy!!).  #Teamwork!!!!!

Cheers!

Dawn

Nantucket Rehearsal Dinner at Galley Beach with Zofia & Co. Photography

August 11, 2015 · 1 Comment

Are you still dreaming of coral peonies and garden roses from our post last week? (Yeah, we are, too!) Today we’re sharing the rehearsal dinner of our lovely couple, Betsy and Colin that took place at Galley Beach on June 19th.
With an airy, Nantucket feel, we created custom white washed hand turned pedestals for our arrangements and surrounded them with lush wreaths of hydrangea and roses. We kept things simple for this event, using a gorgeous blue faux burlap linen for the tables and mother of pearl chargers from Placesetters, Inc. along with white cross back chairs from NECR.   We loved the round menu’s that Ceci New York created for this fabulous fete.
Take a peek at their rehearsal below!

Throw Back Thursday – A Nantucket Wedding at The Wauwinet with Cary Hazlegrove

June 25, 2015

This sweet blue wedding with hints of yellow is so sweet for a spring wedding.
Spring on Nantucket is typically on the cooler side and our little island is just starting to be green again. Our bride was inspired by the ocean that surrounds us so blue became the basis for our palette.
With it being spring, we added in pops of yellow for contrast at the ceremony with moss orbs hanging from shepherd’s hooks with ribbon streamers for the aisle makers. The texture of the Nantucket baskets on the tables added texture and a nod to our isle on the tables.
The bride had custom embossed labels made for her favors, which greeted each guest when they found their seat. They ended the night as most Nantucket couples do – with a sparkler send off!
Happy Thursday everyone!

What’s that Flower? A Series with Soirée Floral – Part 6 – Astilbe

June 23, 2015

Astilbe is one of those delicate flowers that we’re so excited to use when the season comes. It provides such a gorgeous airy yet fluffy texture to any centerpiece or bouquet. We love to use the white, pink and blush variety. Perfect for the bride who likes a little extra texture in their floral designs – we jump at the chance to use it for our early summer and fall brides.

Throw Back Thursday – A Nantucket Wedding at the Hadwen House with Soirée Floral

June 11, 2015

It’s Thursday again, can you believe it? And this week we’re sharing a garden inspired Nantucket wedding that took place at the historical Hadwen House on Main Street.
Marie and Tim were inspired by nature for the colors of heir wedding. From that inspiration our designs were eclectic and whimsical with a mix of textures and colors.
The focal point of their afternoon reception was our grand urn arrangement that surrounded the charcuterie station. We love a unique wedding and theirs was one we haven’t seen in awhile – a cocktail-style soirée in the garden! Take a look back with us!

What’s that Flower? A Series with Soirée Floral – Part 5

June 9, 2015

It’s Tuesday! And today we’re thrilled to bring you another “What’s that Flower?”
post… and this week – it’s Pieris! Pieris is a flowering shrub with the sweetest bell-shape blossoms and is often referred to as the “Lily-of-the-Valley shrub”! It comes in blush and white and we can’t help but ooo and ahh over it when it arrives in the studio. We love the texture Piers can bring to an arrangement or bouquet and sometimes providing just the right amount of cascade and whimsy.
We love using them in our floral cuffs as well!
As we dive in to the heart of the wedding season, be sure to keep up with us on Instagram (@soireefloral) and on Facebook!

Throw Back Thursday – An Elegant Nantucket Wedding at the ‘Sconset Casino

June 4, 2015

Romantic and Classic are two words that come to mind for this week’s Throw Back Thursday Wedding. A simple, elegant palette of green, white and a rich chocolate brown make the fall wedding so classic. The couple wed at ‘Sconset Chapel and held their reception at the ‘Sconset Casino, just a few steps from the chapel.
Their wedding day was full of lush blooms of roses, hydrangea and even a few fiddlehead ferns!
The head table was designed with three tall centerpieces and acted as the focal point of the reception. The rest of the tables, covered in ivory pin tucked linens from Placesetters, held gorgeous bronze urn arrangements with tons of candlelight.

What’s that Flower? A Series with Soirée Floral – Part 4 – Orchids

June 2, 2015

Today’s flower series is all about orchids. Orchids come in different varieties and a rainbow of colors and today, you’ll see a few varieties in this post. What you’ll also see is how surprisingly versatile yet classic orchids can be. Alone, orchids are very modern, with their structured petals and somewhat “stiff” appearance. But, mixed with fluffy blooms, orchids add interest, a sense of luxury and lots of texture! You know us, we love mixing and matching textures – and we are always excited with a bride or client loves orchids! Don’t think you love orchids? This post might change your mind! Enjoy!

Throw Back Thursday – A Surprise Wedding at the Wauwinet Inn with Soirée Floral

May 28, 2015

Looking back on this wedding makes us smile… This couple surprised their guests on what was supposed to be their rehearsal dinner at Toppers’ with a wedding! They dined on the deck, overlooking the ocean with table designs fit for a true Tuscan dinner. We designed their centerpieces with tons of texture – the dahlias, the roses, the artichokes, the lotus pods! We loved getting to incorporate these rich colors and balance them with interested textures and shapes. And just when guests thought the night couldn’t get any better, it did.
After dinner the couple had another surprise! Guests were shuttled to the ‘Sconset Casino to find themselves in a “Paulie’s” a art deco speakeasy! We transformed the Casino into a luxe art deco lounge complete with furniture and lighting! Guests were in awe of the night and danced the night away at “Paulie’s” – a night, we’re sure, no one has forgotten!
Enjoy!

May 26, 2015

Dahlias… boy do we love’em! Spring and Fall come around and we can’t help but use all the dahlias we can! Like roses, these come in an array of colors and several varieties. The fan favorite is the café au lait dahlia – those ladies are beautiful! In the spring we love the white, peaches and pinks! Oh! And don’t forget the lovely corals! In the fall we love to use red and burgundy when we can, they just have so much dimension! We’re kicking off this week with another one of our flower series post, and this one, you won’t want to miss!

Throw Back Thursday – An Oceanside Wedding in Blue, Green and White by Soirée Floral

May 21, 2015

The sun is shining today and bringing us just a wee bit closer to summer – we’ve got a month to go!
We’re celebrating the spirit of summer today and sharing this wedding with a soft, summer palette from 2009 shot by the late Claudia Kronenberg.
This couple had a very classic, Nantucket feel to their wedding. Their ceremony took place at the First Congregational Church where we lined the aisles with lush pew markers hung with sky-blue ribbon. The altar arrangements were grand in shades of blue, white and green. Incorporating Nantucket’s true summer colors were the inspiration for this couple’s wedding day, no color was too saturated – even when it came to the bridal party! The bridesmaids wore a sherbet-coral cold and the groomsmen wore light beige suits. We gave the bridesmaids something colorful to carry – a petite, round bouquet of green and blue hydrangea with spray roses while the bride carried a classic all-white bouquet that complemented her gorgeous and sleek mermaid gown.
The reception took place at a private home where no detail was left out! The tent was airy and over looking the ocean, giving guests the perfect seaside experience. The tables were dressed in a soft, pale green linen and accompanied by white ballroom chairs, silver chargers and crystal cut stemware – it was all about elegance.
Our centerpieces were lush and fluffy with hydrangea, roses and dahlias. We had two different table scape designs, one with green and white blooms and the other with green, white and blue – reminiscent to the bouquets and the church arrangements.
It’s hard to believe this wedding was so long ago! Enjoy the look back!

What’s that Flower? A Series with Soirée Floral – Part 2 – Garden Roses

May 19, 2015

Oh, the sweet smell of roses! Don’t you just love it? We do, too! What’s even sweeter?
The smell of a garden rose! These lush, delicate beauties are the caviar of roses and we just love them! With so many varieties and colors, garden roses can be incorporated into any palette and style.
They’re available year-round and in many colors, shapes and sizes. Don’t even get us started on the mini tea or cabbage roses! For the bride who loves peonies, but perhaps getting married outside of peony season, try a garden rose! They’re so fluffy and sweet!
I hope your eyes are ready – you’re in for quite the treat!
Mmmm we can almost smell the roses now!

Throw Back Thursday – A Marsala-Inspired Wedding at the Chanticleer Restaurant

May 14, 2015

Today’s the day that the Nantucket Wine Festival kicks off
and what better way to celebrate than with a marsala-inspired post!?
This romantic wedding took place at the Chanticleer restaurant out in ‘Sconset Village. We loved working with such an unusual color palette for the month of July! Shades of red and green with a hint of blue where threaded throughout every detail from the maid’s dresses, their bouquets to the stamps that adorned the cake by Jodi’s Cakes.

What’s that Flower? A Series with Soirée Floral – Part 1 – Peonies

May 12, 2015

Peonies are a Soirée favorite – our brides love them, too! A perfectly fluffy and sweet smelling bloom, what’s not to love? This week we’re kicking off a series called “What’s that Flower?” where you’ll see how we use some of our favorite blooms in a variety of different ways. Sometimes we find ourselves rattling off names of flowers only to find our client’s bewildered, so what better way than to roll it into a series so you, too will know what kind of flowers you like for your wedding or event!
We had a few weddings this past weekend and peonies played
a large part in both of them – take a peek!

Peonies have always been a popular bloom with brides across the country now, and this time of year, you see them everywhere!
What’s great about them, as you’ll see below, is that they can be used in a variety of styles.

In love yet? Here are some more images to add to your Pinterest board!

Throw Back Thursday – A Navy, White and Green Nantucket Wedding at Great Harbor Yacht Club with Brea McDonald Photography

May 7, 2015

In the midst of proposal writing for our 2015 brides, we’re noticing a lot of green
and white color palettes. Green and white lend themselves so easily to
Nantucket’s gorgeous backdrop, we couldn’t help but share a look back at a wedding
that we did at the Great Harbor Yacht Club with Brea McDonald Photography.
With a hint of navy – in the linens and the bridesmaid’s dresses, our bride had a
simple but elegant palette of green and white with fluffy end-of-summer blooms.
Their ceremony took place on the lawn, with the ocean behind them offering them and their guests quite the view on this late summer day. Vases filled with hydrangea and geranium leaf hung from the ceremony chairs while her maids carried petite bouquets of hydrangea, roses and hypericum berries. The bride’s bouquet was full and fluffy with roses, hydrangea, lady’s mantle and hypericum berries that provided an effortless look against the beautiful Nantucket scenery.
Inside the reception the tables were dressed with Navy linens where our green and white floral designs popped off the table in their silver vessels (some lent to the bride by friends and family!)
With simple nautical touches in the table names and menus, Charlotte and Chris stayed classic and clean for their wedding design.
The couple and their guests danced the night away nibbling on one
of Pam Goddard’s delicious cake creations.

Throw Back Thursday – A Nantucket Wedding at the Whaling Museum with Zofia & Co. Photography

April 30, 2015

People love Nantucket for so many reasons: the beaches, the food, the history, the sense of a small-town community, but mostly, I think what draws people here is a sense of peace and calm.
This week we’re taking a look back at Hal and Dal from New Orleans, who sought refuge in the peace and quiet of Nantucket after Hurricane Katrina devastated much of the Gulf Coast. Falling in love with Nantucket is oh-so-easy, so of course Hal and Dale thought of Nantucket for their wedding!
Zofia & Co. captured their joy so wonderfully, it brings back so many memories of their four-day wedding adventure that included some of Nantucket’s finest places:
The White Elephant, The Wauwinet and of course, the Whaling Museum.
With a lush color palette of blue, white and green (with a pop of peach at the reception) we infused a bit of the South with some Nantucket charm, and we definitely had some fun with their designs. Wreaths welcomed guests at the church ceremony and the railings were covered in greenery. The reception at the Whaling Museum was an over-the-top black tie affair, as Hal once said to me; “People from New Orleans are most comfortable in black tie attire.” We used gorgeous silks, beaded overlays, crystal glassware and silver chargers – with no detail left behind! Wait until you see their cake!

Throw Back Thursday – A Blush and White Summer Wedding in Rhode Island with Soirée Floral and Brea McDonald Photography

April 23, 2015

Each week we take a look back at a wedding we’ve done and each week we’re always reminded of wedding trends, the ones that stay true and the ones that go in and out with the times.
Neither of those are bad, of course – we love some wedding trends just as much as the next girl, but it is nice to see what sticks around even after six years have past.
This week we’re sharing some details from a white and blush wedding we designed for a Nantucket girl who moved to Rhode Island and took her local vendors with her! Blush and white are still mainstays in our wedding palettes and offer a nice, soft look with a touch of girliness.
We used the bounty of the season and made daisy letter “wreaths” to flank the entrance of the bride’s family home that the couple said their “I Do’s” at. Flowing ribbon were hung on the backs of the ceremony chairs in shades of pink and peach danced in the summer wind while the trees around the ceremony were adorned with wreaths to mark the “altar”. The flower girl carried a Nantucket basket filled with larkspur blooms as a nod to Liz’s hometown.
The reception took place at the family’s country club on the shore where our blooms were the perfect accent to the ocean view and the beadboard walls. One detail of note was the candlescape we created on the mantle (wait ’til you see the seahorse sculpture!) – it definitely had a wow factor as the sun set.
It was such a pleasure to travel with our team and create this beautiful wedding for our bride and groom. Enjoy!

Throw Back Thursday – A Modern Nantucket Wedding at The White Elephant Hotel

April 16, 2015

Are you an “out of the box” kind of bride? Well, if you are, you’re in luck!
This week we’re featuring a modern seaside wedding shot by the late Claudia Kronenberg, that took place at the White Elephant Hotel back in 2009. This bouquet is one of our favorite modern style bouquets featuring structured blooms like orchids, calla lilies, and poppy pods! We love how the ribbon streamers keep it romantic and colorful with mint and turquoise ribbon.

We kept the church fairly simple – lots of green and white.
Guests were greeted at the archway to the church with ribbons and strings of orchids swaying in the wind. Such a fun, non-traditional way to dress up the arch! White hydrangea wreaths flanked the doors of the church and were hung with ribbon streamers in mint and turquoise.

At the reception, guests were treated to whale truffles from Sweet Inspirations. Our display was lush with strings of orchids hanging from branches with blooms scattered across the table.
The bride created all of the paper products for her big day – a project not for the faint of heart!
You can tell she put a lot of thought and spent a lot of time designing her menus and table numbers.
With mixed heights of white orchids at the head table and the ghost chairs, along with custom made linens took centerstage as the pop of color at the reception. With simple, single bloom arrangements down the table the head table exuded simple, modern elegance.

At the other tables we added a bit of color – yellow! Yellow calla lilies mixed with greens and branches kept the look modern and kept the look interesting as your eye wandered through the layout.
Perhaps one of our favorite parts was the cake display – submerged orchids topped with different cakes! Jen, our bride takes the cake (pun intended!) for one of our most creative cake displays yet!
Here, Jen and her groom Erik enjoy a moment of peace at Brant Point after their “I Dos”.

Daffy-inspired Wedding Inspiration with Soirée Floral

April 14, 2015

Daffodil Weekend, or “Daffy” for short, is really what kicks off the spring season on Nantucket and gives islanders and visitors alike hope that summer is really on its way! We’re excited to be in town for the parade and see some of our brides!

This year’s festival will take place April 24 – 26th and will
include several events as well as the parade and picnic in ‘Sconset.

Last year we shared some of our thoughts on What to Wear to Daffy and
pinned to our heart’s content – tons of clothing, accessories and even recipes!

The colors for Daffy provide great spring wedding inspiration, so if you love shades of yellow, greens and white what could be more perfect that a Daffy-inspired Wedding?!
We love the idea of using Daffodils, Paper Whites and Ranunculus – perfect spring flowers!

Here are some other white and green and yellow blooms to get your wheels spinning!
Whether you’re going for a clean, modern look with orchids and structured blooms, a more organic look using greens and fruits or if you’re all about lush with roses, lilies, garden roses and tulips – spring is the perfect time of year for this palette!
Pulling together a bridal party look for a yellow and green wedding is easier than you think!
Have fun with patterns – we love the idea of mixing and matching Kate Spade’s “Lucky Stripe” and “Lucky Leaf” dresses for a polished, preppy look. Or if preppy isn’t your cup of tea, take a peek at the Donna Morgan bridesmaid collection or Watters Too, they’re flowy and quite heavenly!

Throw Back Thursday – An Elegant Modern Nantucket Wedding at Great Harbor Yacht Club with Soirée Floral

April 9, 2015

Navy and White is always in style on Nantucket.
Maggie and Jeff were aiming for a clean, sophisticated look with a nautical touch for their August wedding in 2010. It’s hard to believe that was just about five years ago and it’s great to see how trends evolve and to see what brides even this year are asking for.
The couple’s ceremony took place at the First Congregational Church (one of our favorites!) and kept it simple with blue hydrangea pew markers to line the aisle. The bridesmaids wore navy dresses and carried blue, white and green bouquets of hydrangea, lady’s mantle, orchids and scabiosa – perfect for a summer wedding!
Orchids were a mainstay in our palette – they provided the perfect touch of modern elegance to our arrangements and are great in warm weather! Guests were greeted at the reception with an escort card display with gorgeous white orchids spilling out of a glass vase.
The tables were a mix of round and long, the long table being the head table with a grand display of tall glass vases and white orchids and hydrangeas atop navy linens.
The round tables were designed with large vases with submerged green orchids, floating candles and small arrangements surrounding it. This color palette is so classic yet still exudes such a modern vibe!

Throw Back Thursday – A Fall Nantucket Wedding at Sankaty Golf Club with Zofia & Co. Photography

April 2, 2015

As we turn to write fall proposals, we are reminded of this gorgeous wedding at Sankaty Golf Club shot by Zofia & Co. Rich with shades of red and pops of white and blue, the lighthouse proved to be the perfect backdrop for their ceremony under a birch trellis. Christine carried an all-white bouquet with hints of navy and chocolate cosmos. Their escort display is one of our favorites – little birds’ nests filled with feathers held each guest’s card. Her tables were a refined mix of rustic and elegant, with the birch vessels overflowing with roses, hydrangea, berries and thistle with burlap runners, paired with gold rimmed chargers from Placesetters, Inc. We hung blue drapes in the ceiling over the dance floor and adorned the iron chandeliers with berries and amaranthus.
All the textures in this wedding have our wheels turning! Take a peek!

Last Minute Ideas for Easter Brunch with Soirée Floral

March 31, 2015

Last week we shared some table top ideas featuring Pottery Barn’s 2015 Easter Collection.
This week we’re sharing some recipe ideas for that gorgeous table top you’re going to design!
Easter Sunday is coming up in just a few short days and if you’re celebrating we thought we might help you mix in a few new recipes into your family traditions. Brunch in our house is a little mix of breakfast and lunch, usually with a quiche, a salad, some biscuits, a ham and lots of desserts.
(After all, isn’t that what the Easter Bunny is all about, sweets?!)
First up, a new twist on a quiche – a potato pie!
This Six Ingredient Sausage Potato Pie looks divine! (And it’s on the healthier side, featuring kale!)
It’s good for anyone in the family that’s gluten-free, too!
This year, instead of a traditional spring salad, why not try this Strawberry Caprese Salad
by the Artistic Odyssey. Doesn’t it look amazing?
What’s a brunch without a cocktail? We couldn’t resist this Spiked Blueberry Lemonade!
Who needs a mimosa when this is so much more fun!
And what better way to end a brunch than with dessert? An Easter Bunny cake, of course!
We came across this oh-so-adorable (and admittedly delicious) Coconut Bunny Cake!
We can’t wait to try these recipes this year with our families!
See more ideas on our Pinterest Board – Easter & Spring Celebrations!
We’re off to the kitchen to taste test!

Happy Friday, everyone!
We’re ending our week on a great note with one of our Nantucket Yacht Club Weddings
on Pottery Barn’s Have & Hold blog today! This pink and green wedding was lush and classic – perfect for their venue! We designed three different table designs for this reception, making the large ballroom of the club feel more intimate.
The three looks were unified with tons of candlelight, creating a romantic ambiance.
Head on over to Pottery Barn to see more from this Nantucket Wedding photographed by Cary Hazlegrove.
