Throw Back Thursday – A Nantucket Wedding at the Whaling Museum with Zofia & Co. Photography

April 30, 2015

People love Nantucket for so many reasons: the beaches, the food, the history, the sense of a small-town community, but mostly, I think what draws people here is a sense of peace and calm.
This week we’re taking a look back at Hal and Dal from New Orleans, who sought refuge in the peace and quiet of Nantucket after Hurricane Katrina devastated much of the Gulf Coast. Falling in love with Nantucket is oh-so-easy, so of course Hal and Dale thought of Nantucket for their wedding!
Zofia & Co. captured their joy so wonderfully, it brings back so many memories of their four-day wedding adventure that included some of Nantucket’s finest places:
The White Elephant, The Wauwinet and of course, the Whaling Museum.
With a lush color palette of blue, white and green (with a pop of peach at the reception) we infused a bit of the South with some Nantucket charm, and we definitely had some fun with their designs. Wreaths welcomed guests at the church ceremony and the railings were covered in greenery. The reception at the Whaling Museum was an over-the-top black tie affair, as Hal once said to me; “People from New Orleans are most comfortable in black tie attire.” We used gorgeous silks, beaded overlays, crystal glassware and silver chargers – with no detail left behind! Wait until you see their cake!

Kentucky Derby Party Inspiration with Soirée Floral

April 28, 2015

Have you pressed your argyle and polished the silver? It’s time for the Kentucky Derby!
We’re having so much fun dreaming up outfits and pairing hats with our dresses – it’s a shame we can’t wear them all this weekend! If you’re getting together with friends and family to watch the race and sip on Mint Juleps, here are a few ideas on what to wear and what to serve!

First up – What to Wear!?! We’re excited to feature Arturo Rios’ hats and fascinators – they’re such works of art! We’ve paired his hats with some of our favorite ModCloth dresses! We chose fit and flare style dresses, perfect for all body types and paired them with fun, statement pieces.
Which one would you wear?

From left to right:
Glam of Make Believe Dress • Let’s Go Outgoing Dress • Primed to Party Dress
Head on over to their Fit & Flare section for more reasons to dress up this weekend!

Now, there’s no point in dressing up if you’re not going to strut your stuff!
Invite a gaggle of ladies over, tell them to dress appropriately and have their guys wear all the argyle they can find!
We love Paperless Post – their designs are lovely and the delivery is instant! We stayed with our color palette of black, white and pink, even for our invitation!

Next, you better be prepared! Here are a few recipes that are sure to knock their socks off.

Mini Hot Browns • Brown Sugar & Brown Butter Pecans • Kentucky Jam Cake
Cocktails are a must, and we Soirée girls never pass up the opportunity to put a fun twist on the expected. Here are some fun sips for your party!

Blackberry Mint Julep • Strawberry Moonshine Julep • Lavender Mint Julep • Cherry Julep

Head on over to Pinterest for more of our suggestions for your Derby Party!

Throw Back Thursday – A Blush and White Summer Wedding in Rhode Island with Soirée Floral and Brea McDonald Photography

April 23, 2015

Each week we take a look back at a wedding we’ve done and each week we’re always reminded of wedding trends, the ones that stay true and the ones that go in and out with the times.
Neither of those are bad, of course – we love some wedding trends just as much as the next girl, but it is nice to see what sticks around even after six years have past.
This week we’re sharing some details from a white and blush wedding we designed for a Nantucket girl who moved to Rhode Island and took her local vendors with her! Blush and white are still mainstays in our wedding palettes and offer a nice, soft look with a touch of girliness.
We used the bounty of the season and made daisy letter “wreaths” to flank the entrance of the bride’s family home that the couple said their “I Do’s” at. Flowing ribbon were hung on the backs of the ceremony chairs in shades of pink and peach danced in the summer wind while the trees around the ceremony were adorned with wreaths to mark the “altar”. The flower girl carried a Nantucket basket filled with larkspur blooms as a nod to Liz’s hometown.
The reception took place at the family’s country club on the shore where our blooms were the perfect accent to the ocean view and the beadboard walls. One detail of note was the candlescape we created on the mantle (wait ’til you see the seahorse sculpture!) – it definitely had a wow factor as the sun set.
It was such a pleasure to travel with our team and create this beautiful wedding for our bride and groom. Enjoy!
