Inspiration Comes From…….

November 10, 2009

…everywhere. For me, it could be looking at all the store windows on Madison Avenue, taking a stroll on the beaches of Nantucket, reading a restaurant’s menu – you get the idea. A few weekends ago some friends and I ended up on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. People who know me well know that I LOVE desserts, and I have no problem skipping dinner and having something sweet. I put this inspiration board together from our walk around the area. What do I see when I look at this? A color scheme of ivory, cream, wheat, and eggplant. Mismatched containers on the table filled with garden roses, tree peonies, peris japonica, schwarzwalder callas and Charlie Brown orchids. Gold crackle chargers, amber glassware, eggplant ribbon wrapped around a napkin with an acorn for embellishment. All the makings for a great tablescape. What would you dream up?

Soiree Floral featured on The Knot.com

November 2, 2009

One of our beautiful fall wedding ceremonies in Nantucket is being featured on the The Knot’s website under ceremony inspirations. Sarina and David were married in the garden at the Hadwin House on a spectacular fall day. We used the colors of the season for our inspiration. Thank you to Charlotte Jenks-Lewis photography for sharing the photos.
Congratulations David and Sarina

A Wedding at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate

October 20, 2009

Natasha and Averell were married this past weekend at the Crane Estate. They are one lucky couple – Saturday’s weather was chilly with sunshine, Sunday was rain and snow! The outdoor ceremony took place in the Italian Garden. We had garland everywhere at this wedding, both inside and out! The bridesmaid’s were troopers – bare shoulders and a balmy 30 degrees when the ceremony got underway.

The beautiful cake was by Jenny’s Cakes and it not only looked great, it tasted great too! I am a huge fan of candlescapes – they soften any ‘dead space’ and add lots of romance.

Orchids were everywhere! To ground things a little we added succulents and cedar to the cocktail tables. The bold colors against the crisp white linens were a nice contrast.
