About the Day

We first spoke to Chelsea at the end of July, about 6 weeks before her wedding day. As explained here, we typically work with a couple for 6 months to a year. Chelsea’s style expertise and job at Lilly Pulitzer meant that she already had a very clear vision for the day, so we were able to pull things together without a hitch. They rented a private home in the Fisherman’s Beach area, just around the corner from the site of one of our all-time favorite backyard micro weddings.

Primary blooms used throughout the day were blue and white hydrangea, roses, ranunculus, veronica, larkspur, and astilbe. The hand-tied garden style bridal bouquet had blooms in shades of white and blush with soft pops of pale blue and lilac. These really popped against Chelsea’s gorgeous blue and white floral gown. Bridesmaids wore champagne dresses and their bouquets were similarly styled with white, pink, and blush blooms and bits of greenery. Ryan’s boutonniere was a simple white ranunculus blossom with small bits of greenery.

We planned on two large planter arrangements to flank either side of the backyard ceremony area. Due to high wind, threats of rain, and being 2020, at the last minute the ceremony was moved indoors to the living room/kitchen. Family members clustered the space with pillar candles in different heights for a truly magical glow. Hanging aisle markers in clear glass vases sparkled in the candlelight as they walked down the aisle. Cocktail hour took place outside at the poolside cabana where candles floated and added some glimmer to the evening. Round tables filled the dinner tent, with handpainted menus and placecards at each seat. Tables had a lush centerpiece in a clear compote vase, a trio of delicate chinoiserie bud vases (reminiscent of Chelsea’s gown), and votive candles.
