About the Day
July and August are known as Nantucket’s tourist season and have generally been less popular wedding dates. Coming out of our busiest June yet, we were a little skeptical about Erin and Brendan’s July 30th wedding date. However, we’re now fully converted. There’s something particularly special about having a whole island of well-wishers to cheer on the wedding party. Erin and Brendan’s wedding day was a perfect July day. Despite the 90-degree heat and humidity, they didn’t break a sweat or even stop grinning. Their luxe design, inspired by classic Nantucket, incorporated white blooms and greenery with blue chinoiserie accents throughout, instead of only highlighting blue and white hydrangea.
Erin carried a stunning bouquet of all white roses, freesia, ranunculus, hydrangea, and stock. Her Bridesmaids also carried similar rounded bouquets of all white blooms. The men wore white spray rose boutonnieres wrapped in grey satin ribbon. Altar arrangements were a lush blend of roses, hydrangea, delphinium, and greenery. Once they exited St. Mary’s, guests tossed white rose petals and walked to the reception. Meanwhile, E & B arrived in style on the club’s launch, leaving from the White Elephant dock.
Guests enjoyed cocktails on the lawn at Great Harbor and found their seats in a vignette of chinoiserie pottery and white blooms. The Sperry Sailcloth tent ceiling was filled with gold carriage lanterns. Elegant arrangements of greenery, hydrangea, and roses on the 48-foot-long head table completed the elevated look. The head table was also covered in mixed hydrangea arrangements in chinoiserie and floating, votive, and hydrangea blue taper candles. Guest tables had an assortment of clear and silver mercury glass vases with arrangements of white roses, lisianthus, freesia, spray roses, stock, and hydrangea. After dinner, guests moved inside the clubhouse for dancing, where a “hedge” of greens, delphinium, and larkspur covered the front of the bandstand.
