About the Day
The first thing Meaghan said when we met was that she wanted an “anti-preppy” and “boho chic” wedding. At the time, we planned on 200+ people at the Nantucket Yacht Club. Eventually, we found ourselves planning for a more intimate affair at the Ducksholm Estate in Shawkemo. A previous Ducksholm wedding can be found here. The natural beauty of the property definitely lent itself to her style. The blustery weather made for a micro wedding to remember.
Meaghan’s oversized bridal bouquet eptiomized her textural boho style. Tawny toffee roses, blushing bride protea, pieris, rice flower, star of bethlehem, wax flower, and lisianthus made for a showstopper. Her bridesmaids wore jewel tone gowns and carried unique but coordinating bouquets of similar blooms. Following this look, the guys wore simple boutonnieres with blush blooms and bits of greenery. Primary blooms used throughout the day were toffee and cappuccino roses, delphinium, protea, wax flower, lisianthus, and stock. Bay laurel, ferns, eucalyptus, and ruscus lent dimension and texture.
For the ceremony we designed a pair of large organic arrangements to sit on tall pedestals, echoing the bridal bouquet. While the combination of September sunshine and gale force winds made for beautiful and dramatic photos, it made things a little more challenging. Because of this, Mother Nature won the battle for set up, and we placed ceremony arrangements on the ground, flanking the altar area. After a brief ceremony officiated by Meaghan’s dad, guests moved to the tent where they were greeted by three different table designs.
One design included a trio of pillar candles on different heights of gold riser surrounding a gold lace lantern, votive candles, and bits of greenery tucked in. The second table design was a luscious centerpiece in a gold compote bowl with gold mercury glass votives. The final tablescape was trio of petite arrangements in brass cups interspersed with pillar candles in different heights. A sprig of rosemary at each place setting tied together the boho chic micro wedding design. Photo/video team, 309 Productions’ blog post about the day can be found here.
