We had another crazy weekend of weather here on Nantucket. Lots of weddings, and LOTS of rain! Jen and Carter were married this past weekend. One look at their photos, and you’d think they had a fabulously sunny day for their ‘I Do’s.’
We had the pleasure of doing Jen’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, so when we got the call from the Riolo family that wedding bells were in the air again, we were thrilled! We’ve been working with them for a little over a year on all the details, and as it all started to crystalize, I was on the phone with their photographer Brea to make sure she knew ALL the details that went in to this one.
Brea stopped by our studio the day before the wedding to see how things were shaping up (the rain had started by then). She snuck a few ‘behind the scenes photos’ of me finishing Sara’s Maid of Honor bouquet, and tweaking a few of the decor items we had in store for the reception.
We were busy setting things up at Sankaty when Brea popped in to capture some detail shots before the guests arrived. I LOVE these shots – brides always thank us afterwards. So many couples are busy with greeting everyone during cocktail hour that they don’t get a chance to just take a moment to see how everything looks. Brea even caught me up on a ladder adjusting things one last time making sure things were just perfect for Jen and Carter’s arrival (and yes, I realize I have less than fabulous rain-soaked hair). Notice how the texture in Jen’s bouquet plays off the lace in her dress. It’s so important to have texture in an all white bouquet – it won’t photograph well if you don’t (and I’m a stickler for great photos!).
Jen and Carter met during ballroom dance lessons- how original is that!? I’m told their first dance was nothing short of magical.
They had a wonderful evening and I know we’ve done our job when I get a hug that squeezes so tight I can hardly breathe. Having the MOB call the next day in tears saying she is still overwhelmed, well…..that takes the cake.
Huggs and Kisses Carter & Jen,
Dawn
